As a businessperson I always like the mentality of," If you're doing business you WILL get sued that WILL happen."That is in my opinion good advice to always stay prepared and ready for any legal actions. This is good not just for business but for your personal life too. It's always goo to understand what law is and how it works.
Contract Law
Contract law isn't just about disputing a bad agreement it is about making sure that before you even enter a business deal you have a understanding of what profits you negotiate as well as what services or products your client is getting. This is a good habit to have in the eyes (as a company) of Navus. When starting and operating company in general it is good to have some foresight over who is running what and who owns what.
Labor Law
Have you ever felt like you where treated unfairly at your job or place of work? Labor law is meant to protect the employee as well as the employer. Law can be a beautiful thing when used wisely it can give structure and make life easier.
Copyright/Intellectual Property Disputes
Have you ever seen on the news that a musician, actor or other artist sold all their "masters" or saying they don't own the rights to their biggest career successes like profits from being on tv shows, famous photos when talking about models, likeness of a character an actor played in a movie they are well known for, or "clearing a sample" in music? The reason for these things has to do with Intellectual property law and who has the copyright to a brands likenesses, intellectual property, and image. Sometimes artists make a deal where in exchange for a large percentage of a musicians Intellectual Property, their song (single/ep deals) or album profits, major labels will put up something like a $1M music deal for a musician or band to make their album in addition to a $350k signing bonus for the artist to keep as a salary in addition to just as an example 5% of profits from album sales/streaming or reruns on tv when talking about actors. This hypothetical $1M is then used for the artist to fly to business meetings at the music labels headquarters usually in New York City,NY or Los Angeles,Califronia
